Andrea Horwath enters final week of campaign with record volunteers and new ads

New ad shows Horwath rallying supporters as volunteer crew surpasses 20,000 mark

TORONTO — More than 20,000 volunteers have joined NDP campaigns all over Ontario, and the party has launched a new energetic ad showing NDP Leader Andrea Horwath rallying a large crowd and calling for Ontarians to come together and elect the NDP to stop the cuts and start to fix what’s broken.

“This election is our chance to finally fix what matters most; health care, seniors care, the housing crisis, and the rising cost of living,” says an optimistic Horwath to a cheering crowd.

Recorded at a rally in Brampton, the 30-second ad is in addition to others the NDP is launching this week, including There Is Hope, an ad focused on the NDP’s Universal Mental Health Care plan.

About 1,000 supporters turned up to the rally in Brampton where the ad was filmed, and by May 25, the NDP had 20,172 volunteers on the ground. That’s compared to 9,035 volunteers to the exact same point in the 2018 campaign that catapulted Horwath and the NDP to Official Opposition status and 40 seats.

The ad concludes with Horwath calling for all those who don’t want to see any more Conservative cuts to come together.

“To beat Doug Ford now — to stop the cuts before he does any more damage — I’m asking people to come together behind the team that is Strong. Ready. And Working For You,” said Horwath.
